In the summer we always rotated. On the weekends. By we I mean Robert & Antonio,Paulo & Rodrigo, Johnny & Charlie,Joe Ray & Billy Bob( I'm not kidding), Manuel & Jesus and Bobby & Me. By rotate I mean one weekend was for RV travels and the next was for pool parties. The pool parties were always at my house and the RV trips were to anywhere in the two to three hour driving range. Always next to a lake or a stream. Looking back I'm not sure which I enjoyed more. One thing I am sure of is that every weekend was filled with Lust. Maybe it had to do with the warm water and the hot air. At the Lake and the Pool. Both rotations were filled with Beer, Margaritas & Sangria so I don't think the LUST can be blamed on the Booze!
We caravanned over to Blue Water Lake. Three RV's several trucks a couple of jet skis and a boat. We shared everything. And I mean everything. As the boys were getting the campsite set up I would start preparing the chili verde. No matter what else I cooked during the weekend chili verde was always served. On top, on the side, or wrapped up. Chile verde was the staple. It was essential. The necessary substance for which demand was always constant. Roasted tomatillos fresh chopped garlic roasted anaheim chilies chopped onions cilantro oregano chicken stock and a nice big butt......pork roast
I was inside the RV roasting, baking, broiling & steaming and the guys outside were roasting, baking, broiling & steaming. In the hot dusty air of Bluewater Lake. Hot air filled with dust. As soon as the campsite was set up and the chile verde was simmering the water-sports would begin. Jet skis were my fav. I liked to ride the rear and hold on to the driver. It never mattered
who was driving. I'd wrap my arms around his waist hold on tight and enjoy the ride.
No dust just lust. On the water. On the shore the nights were filled with both.
We shared everything. The booze the dust the chili verde and the lust. I can't blame the lust on the booze or the dust. I guess it must have been the chili verde.
Or the rotation. In the summer we always rotated. On the weekends.
"The legend of Chile Verde tells of men who became slaves to their passions. They paid the price here under the blistering, burning, blazing, scorching, roasting, toasting, baking, boiling, broiling, steaming, searing, sizzling, grilling, smoldering, VERY HOT New Mexico sun. For there is a saying in these parts: those who lust in the dust shall die in the dust."
The time was the early 80's. The place was near Albuquerque. And many of us did.
